Katie always complains about the seat belt rubbing her neck when she rides in my truck. I know you can buy covers at the stores but being that I have tote after tote of scrap fabrics why not just make one!
I started with a fat quarter.
Cut it to a 15" X 18"
Next I cut a 13" x 16" piece of cotton quilt batting.
Lay the fabric down - wrong side facing you.
Place the cotton batting on top.
Fold fabric edges over the batting and stitch all the way around.
I then folded the two short sides together, meeting in the middle.
Then I pinned long pieces of velcro to the outer edges. (Along the black lines.)
Unfold the fabric and stitch the velcro in place.
Now you can fold, meeting in the middle again with the two short sides. Pin it together just as it is and then stitch along the top and bottom edges as well as run a seam down both sides that you joined in the middle.
(Confusing I know, as I am not very good at describing things but just think of stitching it in the shape of a capital i or just follow my messy black lines below.
Don't laugh!!
I know my paint abilities on this computer are pretty terrible too!
Now it's ready to try out.
Wrap cover around seat belt and seal with the velcro.
Katie tested it and gave it a two thumbs up.
That's clever! Katie looks like a very happy girl now! She is so cute!
