A giveaway, Spring Cleaning and a Brownie Recipe

What a combo!

First of all Carmen C. is having her very first giveaway to celebrate her 100th post. She makes lots of yummy looking candles. They really do look good enough to eat :0) She is giving away some lemon pound cake scented rose hip potpourri, goatsmilk soap, a cinnamon bun candle and a crocheted dish cloth. If you'd like to enter go visit her at Waxed Out Creative Life

Now to the spring cleaning! It is supposed to be around 68 degrees here today so I thought I might as well take advantage and get a start on my spring cleaning . I'll be busy washing, walls, curtains, etc. today so I'll have to catch up on all of your blogs later tonight. I am trying a new cleaning recipe out today so I'll let you know later what I think of it.

I saved the best for last ..... DESSERT.

I am searching for a good chewy brownie recipe that is homemade using cocoa powder instead of the baking squares. If anyone has one they would like to share please let me know. Here is the recipe that I tried the other day. It was more of a cake brownie & I thought it was really good and chocolatey however, my husband prefers the chewy kind. See that missing strip of brownies in the photo. Well, I had to make sure they tasted alright before I passed them out to everyone else!

Cocoa Brownies

Makes (2) 8x8 pans so cut the recipe in half if you need less.

2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 sticks butter, melted
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix sugar, eggs & vanilla.
Add melted butter and stir.
Add flour, baking powder & salt.
Pour into two 8X8 pans and bake 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Sounds like a busy day!I don't have a recipe right off hand, but go on www.recipezaar.com and type chewy brownies in the search box, I always have good luck there when looking for recipes! Thanks for mentioning my giveaway, your name is entered twice:)

Hope someone can get you a good recipe for the chewy ones. I just use the boxed mixes, tee hee. Well, some are awfully good. When I used to bake for a really high-end restaurant, WE USED THE BOXED MIXES and people just RAVED about the brownies. Paid $3.50 for a little ol' piece of brownie. We did make the glaze from scratch, though.

Have fun cleaning! I mean that! It's fun to me to get the curtains washed and stuff.

If I come help you clean, may I have some brownies please???? I love brownies and must confess that none of my recipes can compare with the boxed Duncan Hines mixes. I throw in some chocolate chips and a cup of chopped toasted pecans and they turn out wonderfully every time!

Well I know it may sound crazy, but I am looking forward to the chance to get to do some much needed spring cleaning around here. Since I will be on spring break next week, I hope the weather is decent, otherwise I will have to wait until later on. My husband says that it is supposed to rain, be cool and we also have a chance of snow. UGH! Keeping my fingers crossed that things might be a little different. :) Good luck with all of your chores. There is nothing like having the radio on and the house to myself while I am getting lots of work done. :)

Oh I love, love, love brownies. There are one of my favorites. :) I can smell them now. (lol) You make such great things and are such an inspiration to me. :)

Hugs and blessings,
Stacey

This is the Brownie recipe I use around here... we like chewy (slightly underdone) brownies too.

3/4 C butter
1 1/2 C sugar
3 eggs
3/4 C cocoa powder
3/4 C flour
3/4 C chocolate chips
1/2 C nuts (optional)

Easy, only 6 ingredients if you don't add nuts. Spread in 9X13 cake pan, and cook 30-35 minutes at 325 degrees. I mean it doesn't get any simpler than this, or more delicious. Let them cool completely in the pan before you cut the brownies... this is if you can wait that long!
