Make Your Own Cranberry juice

I bought a large bag of whole cranberries before Thanksgiving with the hopes of making several desserts and bread with them.
Well that didn't happen and that huge bag of berries kept staring at me everytime I opened the refrigerator door.

So what to do with them???

Since all of my kids and myself love to drink cranberry juice I thought I'd try my hand at making my own.
Not hard at all!

Cranberry Juice

3 lbs. fresh cranberries
9 cups water
Sugar

Wash cranberries.
Place in a large stockpot and cover with 9 cups water.
Cover and bring to a boil.
Turn the heat down a bit and let simmer.
As the berries heat you will hear them pop as they burst open.
When they have all burst open then they are done.
Place a mesh colander on top of a large pan or bowl.
Pour berries into the colander and let it sit for about 2 hours until all the juice has drained.
Now you have fresh cranberry juice that is very tart. You will need to add sugar to your own liking. I started out adding a 1/2 cup at a time until I got the desired sweetness.

As for my weekend, it was cold and snowy.
I did get some shopping and wrapping done as well as planned my Chirstmas cookie bake list. I also finished a few stitched gifts for Chirstmas and cuddled a bit with the kids (and Snickers the cat) as we read more from the Little House series.
Hope you all are staying toasty warm!

Oh, and I almost forgot...be sure to stop back tomorrow. I'll have my Season of Giving giveaway #2 ready for you.
Have a great day!

LOL, not sure if Snickers is listening to the story or just mesmerized by those fuzzy socks! That juice sounds delicious and easy, will have to give it a try, I'm sure its much healthier than store bought! We have about 7 inches here, but supposed to get another 7 or 8 by tomorrow night, it's pretty, but I have shopping I need to do:(
