Oven Baked Barbeque Beef Brisket

This was my first attempt ever at cooking a beef brisket and it turned out pretty tasty. My intention was to cook it all day in a cooking bag but I didn't have one so I started it out in the oven covered tightly with aluminum foil. Once I made it to the store to buy a bag I then placed it all into the cooking bag and continued cooking.
About a half and hour before dinner I removed it from the oven, let it cool for 15-20 minutes and then shredded it.
Lots of flavor and taste!

Oven Baked BBQ Brisket

2 to 3 lb. fresh beef brisket
3/4 cups water
2 tbsp. dried onion flakes
3 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp. cider vinegar
1 tbsp. chili powder
2 beef bouillon cubes
2 garlic cloves, minced
cinnamon (about 1/4 tsp.)
1 1/2 cups bottled BBQ sauce
Reynold's Cooking Bag

Place cooking bag into a 13X9 baking dish.
Place meat inside bag.
In a small bowl, mix together the water, onion flakes, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, chili powder, bouillon cubes and garlic.
Pour this mixture over the meat.

Lightly sprinkle some cinnamon over top of brisket.
Tie bag closed and place pan in a 325° oven.
Let bake for 5-6 hours.
If it begins to cook dry then reopen the bag and add a bit more water.
Remove from oven and let cool 15-20 minutes.
Shred or slice on a diagonal.
Enjoy!

Are all of you in the south enjoying the snow?
We are anxiously awaiting to see how much we will get. It's supposed to begin here sometime tomorrow so we shall see.

Stay warm!

We LOVE BBQ Beef Brisket at our house! I posted my recipe here http://wvtreasures.blogspot.com/2009/07/bbq-beef-brisket.html if you'd like to take a look at it. I don't cook it in a bag. I cook it in my turkey roasting pan with the lid on.

Have a Great Day!
