Sewing Outdoors & a Wind-Proof Pinkeep

The weather has finally changed a bit so today I have the A/C off and the windows open. *My kind of weather!*
We did have a quick shower that went through early this morning but no real amount of rain. I've been watering plants each night because of the lack of rain.
Anyhow, the temperatures are staying in the 70's for the next few days and there is a nice breeze blowing so I've spent my morning sitting on the back porch stitching.
Here's my block 6 of the Promises and Borders Quilt.
I'm sewing all the blocks for the top half of the quilt together today so hopefully I'll have a picture of that tomorrow.
I did take a break from my sewing though to make myself a wind-proof pinkeep.  The breeze was strong enough this morning to blow all my needles and thread around so I grabbed a half pint canning jar, some Poly-Fil stuffing, a pretty piece of fabric and a cute button.
I cut an 11 inch circle of fabric out and then placed a handful of the batting in the center. I gathered the fabric around the batting and stitched from the bottom upward and through the button holes. I repeated this a few times to make sure the fabric was securely attached and then placed the whole thing into my canning jar.
It works perfect for my outdoor sewing!

Which is where I'm off too again.
Have a great day!
