Pepper Steak Without Tomatoes

Pepper Steak without Tomatoes

This is an easy favorite of mine but my husband does NOT like tomatoes and all the recipes call for them diced. So this dish just doesn't go over well in our household.
However, yesterday I decided to try it without using whole or diced tomatoes and it worked!
Not to dry...not to thin....just right and a perfect baked gravy ready to be spooned over your potatoes.

3 lbs. round steak
1 onion, sliced in rings or diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
10 3/4 oz. can of tomato soup
a soup can full of water
8 oz. can tomato sauce
3 tbsp. A-1 steak sauce
1 tbsp. brown sugar
salt & pepper

Trim fat from meat and place in a greased 13X9 baking dish.
Place onions & peppers on top of meat.
In a bowl, mix the soup, water, tomato sauce, steak sauce, brown sugar, salt and pepper.
Pour mixture over meat.
Cover pan with aluminum foil and poke 4-5 small vent holes in top.
Bake on 350 degrees for 2 1/2 hours.
