Wheeling WV Bike Trail

A few weeks ago we loaded the bikes on the truck and headed north. It's just a 10-15 minute drive by vehicle and it gave us a new trail with lots of different scenery. These are all pictures that I took along the way as well as a few history links if you care to read further.

First up is the Bloch Bros. Building , famous for Mail Pouch Tobacco.

Next, we paused a few minutes to snap a picture of this guy moving some empty barges around.

A little further north is Wheeling Heritage Port & Amphitheater which is center-stage for a hodgepodge of events, festivals & social gatherings.

Photobucket
Moving along I saw this cute little playground that I'm sure that Katie would have like.

Photobucket

Right across from the playground was what I am told was once a ticket booth for the Pennsylvania Railroad. This is my husband and Dad standing in front of the overgrown depot patiently waiting for me to put my camera away.

Photobucket

They thought we were going for a bike ride- not a photo shoot! I'm not so sure they will ask me to go with them ever again. :0)

To Be Continued....

I have heard of that trail.
I think Brads Dad Doug Paisley worked on rails to trails. My step dads family is from Moundsville
But now they live in Glen Dale as they are in their
80s and eldery. I am rooting 4 Brad to win all
7 of his nonims. for the CMA. He sure deserves
Entertainer of the Year
EOTY. I am so proud of him
as I am sure you are
Pamela (WV) in Ohio

That looks like a fun day and you got some wonderful pics. There used to be an old barn by where I went to High school that had the Mail Pouch ad painted on it, I loved it but it has since been torn down and the new hospital was built close by:(

I really like that trail! And I have heard of Mail Pouch Tobacco!

I have seen those fancy wooden playgrounds in several lucky cities, including Georgetown, Tx and Nacogdoches, TX. The kids do love them.

Isn't it funny how when you have a blog that EVERY thing has to have pictures taken?? I do the same thing. We like to load our bikes up and go for rides too.
